Buying Leads

Has anyone on this forum ever used Bid Clerk or Service Magic. I went to a seminar in orlando last year on project management. In this seminar they had stated that they get alot of there subs off of Service Magic. As time went on I started to forget about that statement but very recently under the current circumstances of it being really slow for me right now I have been doing some research on Bid Clerk and Service Magic in order to get Leads.

I think I will pass on both but I was hoping that I could get some insight from others that have used or are using either company. Almost all of my work is created and awarded by word of mouth. There has been those times when a random conversation leads to work.

I actually started to fill out the online form for Service Magic because my dumb butt thought it was free and when I clicked on Next they were wanting Credit Card info. I quickly got disgruntled and left. The very next day I recieved a call from someone who worked for Service Magic. The conversation was great, he was likeable and a great salesmen, but I told him that I wanted to do some more research on this and get back with him. He directed me to a forum held by them and told me to check it out. He also explained that I would see a few negative post with most being positive ones. This is where he failed. I went to this site and read all that I could and guess what? Almost all of them were bad. Service Magic charges you big money just for giving you the lead whether you get the job or not.

Bid Clerk on the other hand charges you monthly once again not caring if you ever get a job or not.

I suppose after the holidays and things pick back up I wont care about either company but I would like to still hear what anyone has to say about either company or if you have an experience with another company with a similar service.

Thanks

Welcome to the site, check out the search function for lead services or the drop down menu or lead services. You should be able to find a winters worth of reading.

Search this forum for the two lead services you inquired about. You will find varying opinions. All i can say is try both for a couple months and e wat youc an do. If they don't work for you then get rd of them.

Short summary, they work for some and not for others; the same goes for any advertising and marketing media.

Use service magic, they don't the greatest leads, but you can bet they can generate leads. Not all are from the internet leads.

I've been using Service Magic since 2004, they're ok.
I used Bidclerk for awhile and the homeowner gets 10 plus calls and it's hard to set an appointment.

So you're paying to run a bid with a 1 in 10 chance of getting a job and having to work to schedule the appointment?

working to set the appointment?

I don't know how you do things,...but with EACH of the internet lead services that my company deals with, you ALWAYS have to work, and be very dilligent to set the estimate, considering you're one of several contractors obtaining the same lead and hoping to get your foot in the door.

You show me a lead service where you don't have to "work" to get the estimate, and I'll show you the 7-11 where Elvis is working.
