Blue Book

I work for a company who specializes in commercial grade aluminum windows. Supply and Install. Up until this point all of our leads have been through connections in the industry, but we're looking to branch out. I've been researching online lead sources and have found a few services that look alright, but need a little guidance. So far, Blue Book looks to be giving me some quality "teaser" leads with drawings and specs. Of course, I won't get full access to them until I pay for an ad.

Any thoughts on Blue Book? Positive or negative.

Thanks!

Dan

Re: Blue Book

We're in the Blue Book. They've got a handy lead system, but I'm sure if you get a lead from them so did 100 other contractors. Companies looking for bids can mass email everyone in a category.

The best thing about Blue Book is they have a trade show where GC's and developers "host" the event and subs can come out and meet them. You can check online to see if there are any events in your area. It's a free event, and last time I went we got two drink tickets for the full bar!

I should mention they also have a hardcover version of the online list. It's a nice book, they mail it out once a year. And it's really blue.

Well, i'm not so much interested in the book itself. Moreso the access to the various leads I'll receive through their web service. Any experience with that?

Re: Blue Book

Like I said, you get a mass email. We've followed up on a couple. One company called us about a wall and then decided they were going to do a vinyl fence (we don't do vinyl), a second company sent us drawings and after telling us the job was for ornamental aluminum, it was all vinyl. Whatever. I don't blame Blue Book for that. We may have gotten other calls from being in Blue Book without realizing it. I'd say, list, because it can't hurt. You don't have to pay for a basic listing, by the way.

I did not know this! Does a basic listing still give you access to the website and ITB's?
