Re: Any-one Use Service Magic For Leads?

Thanks, I'm glad I searched the forums. Should have done that before hand. They have been calling trying to "pressure" me to sign up, even offering to 1/2 the sign up price. But I see it's still a waste. If I can get it for free, that might be a bit different.

Thanks PressurePros!

Funny you mention this topic, I also signed up for the free trial and someone phoned me telling me they could sell me a lead for $9.00, sounded a little fishy to me though.

John these people call us about every other month. They want $99.00 to sign up and then so much per lead, with the gas prices and then your time going out there it's a crap shoot.

Re: Any-one Use Service Magic For Leads?

we used them for about 3 months last summer

we got a ton of leads
but half of them were bogus
wed call and the people wouldnt know why we were calling and thought we were telemarketers
or it would be a cell phone that they never answer

we had a few that werent even in the same line of work that we do

they aren't quality leads

if you want to use online lead company
use homeimprovementportal.com

the leads you get are exclusive (you are only contractor to recieve them)

Re: Any-one Use Service Magic For Leads?

I've spent $370 with them in the last three months.

Twelve total leads plus sign up fee.

I got one $250 gutter cleaning job from them.

Two of the Leeds never returned my calls after leaving messages and e-mails once a week for over a month.

One person scheduled an appointment and stood me up and wouldn't return my calls.

Four of the leads had already called me or scheduled an appointment with me through my other advertising methods (paid for lead twice).

The won't give a credit for any of these bad leads. They say the negative aspect of some bad leads is built into the low price...

In my opinion all the leads are bunk...

Needless to say I am canceling my membership. I had read all the negative things said on this forum before I signed up, But I calculated the risk and thought it was worth it to give them three months to prove people wrong.

lead services work out good for some people. I guess we all need to try to see if it works for us. Im trying to figure out what type of person goes online to look for a contractor why not just open the phone book.

MattCoops how good does homeimprovementportal.com work for you?

Re: Any-one Use Service Magic For Leads?

I like to spend my money on things people use all the time and after 22 years doing repair work I have found that the Good Old Phone book works the best, In the time I have palced ads in the phone books I have seen contractors come and go they all go for the big ads I stay with what works for us. I keep it simple I don't list 90 things we can do, I see companies that do everything under the sun, and then wonder what is it they do really good. and these are they guys who you see their big ads one year and the next year they are gone. I have always done Plaster repairs and painting, I can do more but that's not what we do. I keep our work to what we do the best, and that is plaster repairs, I know I can get in and out and make good money it might not be thousands of dollars but it pays the bills. and I love what I do. and that means more to me then the money.

Re: Any-one Use Service Magic For Leads?

Thanks for every-ones replys, I don't think Service-Magic or any other "leads" company is right for me. Interesting to see how many people got "burned" by this company. It may work for some but those with a limited advertiseing budget, not very usefull. It's like throwing "Sh*t on the wall" some is bound to stick.
