wood floor finish question

This is for all you hardwood heroes who do it every day. I just banged down 650 sq ft. of carribean heart pine in my own house. The guy at the paint store talked me into using Bona Traffic because we are still living there and didn't want to die from the poly fumes. Ive always used oil and screened and vac between coats to remove any lint or hairs that might fall out of my head, what can I do before my final coat of this waterborne stuff to get rid of any flaws.

Thanks, Blaine Hanson

buff with a slow speed buffer using maroon 3-M pads. Do not use steel wool. If any steel wool fibers are left behind it will rust in the waterborne poly.

On water borne finishes right before I coat, I like to take a damp micro-fiber cloth and tack the entire floor with it. For a large area like that I would use several and carry a spray bottle around with me to keep it damp. I have found they pick up damn near everything. Take that fwiw though...I don't do sand & finish very often and only small areas when I do.

Yes, make sure you tack clothe the entire floor-should after each coat to be safe. I would also wear booties for your feet or wear just your socks while coating.

I'd like to know where you got that and how you 'banged' it down. The real stuff is extremely dense, doesn't float and requires drilling prior to nails.

650 sq. ft. = 2 guys X 2 days minimum if T&G. Add in min. 3 carbide blades depending on the age of the wood.

I'm assuming the same family as Dade County and Andros pine. I know of no other pines grown there that would be suitable for flooring. BTW, I grew up in the islands and Broward County, spitting distance from Dade.
