A very large percentage of folks
conflate all sheetgoods
with linoleum.
I was in a fairly large flooring store fairly recently with someone who wanted to price out linoleum compared to vinyl. I asked the floor person if they carried linoleum. (I had already found the vinyl.) She directed me the vinyl. I asked if she knew if there was a difference between the two. Sadly, even people who sell it don't know the difference.

A sad truth.
Another is that the same people
dragged linoleum into the
asbestos hysteria.

Its a scraper blade about 3" wide, I have taken up a bunch of VCT, sticky tiles and sheet flooring with it. Makes it sooo easy.

I love the smell of the linseed oil from the real linoleum.

Probably much nicer than the smell of asbestos from the other stuff.

Hey Bud Cline how the Heck are you? Hope all is well with you and yours. Tell everyone I said howdy!!!! Bud you know that stuff has asbestos in it, come on man!!!!

If I am not mistaken that is an old Congoleum product(based on the pattern) circa early 70's and is loaded with asbestos, just get a little water on it before scraping.

Or you can just lay ceramic tile right over it just ask Bud how to do it.:clap :

Laying over that floor IS the right way to do it.

I could bust that 5x8 area to shreds and get that sucker clean down to the bare concrete in a matter of minutes with a "slick" and 4" razor scraper. There's just no good reason to bust your balls like that. It's down so well you need heavy equipment or power tools????

Lay over it for Christ's sake.

Re: Vinyl Floor Removal

So easy a 9 year old can do it. Our little girl caught me with it and had to try it out herself. I had to laugh when the saw took off, it was like she was running a jack hammer. LMAO

Re: Vinyl Floor Removal

Looks like your just getting the top plastic layer off and not the felt, that is glued to the substrate.

Re: Vinyl Floor Removal

Yeh she was getting the top layer. I had to back and remove the bottom layer. The saw worked great and I'm suprised the with all the kick back from hitting the concrete that blade held up. I did take the belt sander to it and put a new edge on it to remove the bottom layer easier.

Damn kid always wants to try out my tools. I don't ask to borrow her video games. Leave my Worm Drive alone!

Let her have some fun with your tools just as long as she doesn't get hurt. It won't be long and your tools will be the last thing on her mind. THEN what are you going to do?

I've got that covered with a pump action shotgun. Come on I'm only 45. I still remember back when I first started chasing girls. Not looking forward to that day. Next will come a car.
