Vinyl Floor Care

I just moved into this new (to me) house
Right after sliding my first cardboard moving box across the kitchen floor is when I noticed that this floor scratches with a whisper

It doesn't seem to matter what we do, even the felt tipped chair legs put scratches in this stuff

Well, we figured it was old with the groovy '70s design and we should wax it or something

I found the boxes of spare tiles, they are from this fall (not 1978 ) and say thay are vinyl composition tiles with recycled vinyl

Man what do I do to keep these from scratching?
Can I get rid of the scratches in there now?

Any tips, tricks, suggestions, or solutions, would be appreciated

V.C.T. is really for commercial, not residential.
Mostly because of maintenance.
You need to purxhase a bottle of stripper and repolish and use it when you feel you need to.
they are sold at any floor store.

I'm guessing it's cheaper too?
That's what the rest of the DIY improvements the former owner did would lead me to believe lol
Thanks Flor, there's a floor place in Hyannis, the next town over
I'll pop in there

If you use spic-n-span, that wiil take the old wax, if they used any at all, off and then apply 2-3 coats of wax then buff. Once buffed apply another 3-4 coats of wax and that baby will shine brighter than my bald head. A lot of the larger grocery stores apply 8-10 coats of wax.

You can also do a mix 25% ammonia with 75% water. That will strip the wax in no time flat. Just keep plenty of fresh air moving while doing the work. Oh, no buffer needed, just elbow grease.

I was helping my wife clean the church one weekend. I notice a lot of black marks on the white floor so I reach for what I thought was a Windex bottle a went to spraying it a wiping up the black marks. Took the wax right down to the bare floor. Now I had a terrible mess. I had to strip the whole floor that night. The bottle was full of an ammonia/water mix. It really works.

I remember my mother stripping the wax off her linolium floors with ammonia. I wouldn't use it on vinyl. I've used it in carpet machines too. It rinses out better than carpet soap and leaves the carpet really clean.
