Venting (customers from heck)
I was sent out on Monday to do a job, it was a favor for an important client, and we were going out of our way to accomodate the client. There was a ton of furniture and we knew it was going to be a slow process. I was scheduled to go back, so we completed the (favor areas), but we could not actually do a walk through, because A: we were going back, and B: We did not have everything we needed i.e, it was not specified on the plan, so hence we left the areas functional Without tripping hazards, but not a completely finished product...
Granted the customer had some concerns, but one of the major installation issues, removing some moldings, was not on the plan and even though 2 of the people in charge were there, not one ever mentioned doing that, and even after we did the area, it was not mentioned. Okay, we have to eat some labor, make the customer happy, we do it.
Yet when we are there doing the installation, they do not mention one issue to me or the guys I had there. Why say hey, we noticed this, we noticed that, we were not even finished, The idea is to get the work done, cleaned up, do a walk through and address any issues we may see. Not them, we aren't even done and they just call the Sales rep. Since it is a VIP client, I have to sit back holding my tongue, because if I did not they would have been a former client. I got 2 guys in charge of this 'Place', making an issue out of things that were their responsibility to inform me of, but they throw me under the bus to the head Honcho, and I have to sit back nodding my head, saying yep your right.
I wanted to say, That guy is in charge, even now he never once said he wanted work X done, I can only do what is on the work order. If it seems like it may be an in issue or someone wants to change the work order I have to make a call.

You could have apologized for your oversight, pulled out the specs to see what you missed, start acting confused and asked them please to show where it was again.
Good Luck

I was told I had to agree with them, I was thrown under the bus by the client, but not my company. I basically just want to yell at the salesperson, I had a guy telling me one day a bookcase, was even at the top with the top of a desk, and the next day, he tells the furniture guy the tops weren't even but the profile was?
I mark the furniture with blue tape, label and number everything so it goes back exactly where it was, they peel off the tape and say things aren't where they belong, I am not a moron. These guys dropped the ball threw me under the bus, everyone knows it, and I hope it costs them. The best part of the day they had 2 cabinets side by side, and they are complaining that they do not line up, I say okay you push the other one to the wall, they say that is your job, I say we could do it, but do you want us to rip your outlet box out of the wall? If you didn't peel the painters tape off, or if you looked behind the filing cabinet you would realize, it is impossible for them to line up.
You know the piece of tape that says (#16... 4 inches from the wall, and the piece of blue tape that says alignment is crooked) and a piece of tape that was put on top of the 2 pieces of furniture, cut with a razor knife, so they had to be where they were.
The best quote of the day, "I don't like how you finished this door way, but I do not know what I want", from the guy, who saw the work order and said Okay, leave the quarter round mouldings on, then said after the Install was done, can you take them off?
Okay enough venting

They could tell me all day long that I have to agree with them. It doesn't become a problem until I do.
