Utility Grade Junk?

I had a guy lined up to buy his used hard wood for 50cents a sq ft. He ended up backing out cause some sucker is paying him 1.25 I guess. It had to be refinished (sanded too) and some of the boards were going to be damaged from the removal.

Lumber Liquidators is my next option. I wanted to stay away from Laminate flooring If I could. I think HW holds more value and looks a lot better. I however am on a budget as this is just my play house, not a customers house or a house I can re-sell for a huge profit because of the area.

I can get utility grade unfinished for about 89 cents a ft

There are some sales some times that you can get pre-finished for under 2 bucks a foot.

I'm worried that the amount of waste from the utility grade, I might end up paying more than the pre-finished even. If I am only using half, whats the diff. I'm very unfamilar with these products and what grades are what.

I don't mind finishing, it's a beer and weekend house and I'm in no rush, but definatly have to follow the budget.
