Tung Oil Floors

Good Day........
I have a client that wants her hardwood floors to be tung oiled. My questions are as follows:

1. in doing some research I seems to get the matte finish you need to use 100% pure tung oil and not a mix that have some poly in it, is that right?

2. if so were do I find at least gallon containers of 100% pure Tung Oil? it is a little over 1600 sq ft.

3. What would the experts, you guys and gals, recommend?

Thanks

we just did a tung oil job, trim not floors, anyway a mat finish was not our experiance , we ended up with more of a satin finish, also for a floor you will need at least 4 coats to get the protective build that you would require, even at 4 coats i am not sure about the life expectancy of the finish.

I was planning to lay about 5-7 coats over a 3 day period. I have told her that the floors will/could need annual maintenance.....she's fine with that as a friend of hers has them in Ky. and she loved the way they looked.

Thanks

The most popular tung oil floor finish is Waterlox. It makes a beautiful job and is made for wood floors as well as other applications.

You can read about it here.
