Trouble finding engineered hardwood.

I'm on a project with water damaged flooring. It's 2-1/2" oak surface about 1/8" thick on top of a substrate that is 1" wide strips running 90*s to the surface grain.

Any idea as to the manuf.? I've hit every place in 3 towns.

I know the material you are talking about and it is hard to come by..

I have usually seen it about 3" wide though..

the bottom looks like railroad tracks the way the strip are laminated to the back of the veneer.

I had a customer find some when we needed to make repairs to their floor..he found it online..

was some years ago and havent come across it since..

I have no idea who manufactured it..

I will see if any of my supply houses can recall it.

spoke with a supplier.

you may want to research under Harco and/or Bruce///both had these types of materials , but thye are obsolete..

as I said, a customer of mine did locate some on the web..

happy hutning.

maybe you just sell em on the fact they need a new floor.
if repair is small enough, you can make it yourself, then refnish the flooring..

the finishes on that produyct are very hard to sand I rememmber, so account for that

Thanks. I do some installations for Carpet One and they also thought that it was obsolete.

Finger board core. WFI started doing that, when they went cheap. Any moisture issues and it telegraphed the fingerboards.

Armstrong, Hartco, Bruce all do it in some lines.

Mullican does it on some too.

Finger back flooring

I installed some of that flooring a few years back. I don't remember the style but I do remember that it was made by Bruce. It was bear to install because the grove across the fingers would collapse and interfere with the tongue sliding in. I believe Bruce quite making it soon after it was put on the market. What I installed was 3X 3/8. It was for a builder in Savannah Georgia as was supplied by a flooring company by the name of Phillips Inc on Aborcorn st. Thats all I can remember but you might try calling them and see if anyone remembers it. They should with all the complaints they had from the installers. The owners name is Ray Phillips.
