Tiling A Backporch

I have a back porch slab that is 15x11. Do I need any underlayment(durock or any thing else) or can I just put thin set or a mud set on top of the slab????

I would think that it would be fine to do that if you just put a mesh tape on any apparent cracks in the slab, that will isolate the tile from the crack and prevent the tile from cracking in the future.

You don't need Schluter Ditra, you can thinset right over the slab as long it is somewhat flat. Use a self leveling compound for any rough or uneven areas. If there are any cracks in the slab, use an antifracture membrane such as redgard.

That won't work.

And I wouldn't use Redgard either.

What condition is the slab in, I wouldn't tile a 15x11' slab without a sheet membrane first, good insurance, is it pitched for water runoff, freeze thaw issues, what type of tile?
