Tile Over Tile

I have a renter who has given notice and will soom be leaving the apartment. In the past he has parked his bicycle on the tile floor in the entry. The tires left black marks on the tile. His solution was to take a knife and scrape the black marks off. Of course now there are marks on the floor, and the tile need to be replaced. I do not have any of that tile, so the whole floor needs to be done, no patches. He wants to get some peel and stick to overlay the existing tile. The existing tile is tight to the floor. My very limited experience with the peel and stick was not good, the peel and stick did not stick. Is peel and stick stillcrap and just something a hack would use? Then of course there is still the trim that needs to be removed and installed, the issue of the tile not being flussh at the 4 doors. My preference, as a licensed contractor, is to just hire a licensed floor contractor to fix the floor.

I need some advice from the floor professionals.

Thanks in advance

Re: Tile Over Tile

Peel and stick get mixed results usually not good.
Install 1/4 underlay and new sheet Vinyl if you can take the extra height.

Re: Tile Over Tile

What kind of tile is the existing? In todays market, "tile" is pretty vague.

If the only reason you're replacing the floor is because of metaql marks made on the tile, I know someone was talking about a product that can remove them now over at John Bridge's a couple of months ago. You might try going to the pros hangout and doing a search on metal marks.
