Staining Bamboo

Has anyone out there in floorville stained bamboo before? I've seen it done and it looks pretty simple, but are there any tricks or potential complications I should know about before getting started? I'm about to install factory unfinished carbonized horizontal. Any input is appreciated. THX.

Carbonized may be difficult.
Kinda like staining Brazillian cherry. Color goes all the way thru and may not stain.

Re: Staining Bamboo

It's not just the density. The carbonization process closes the cells of the grass up so it's not as absorptive.

If I wanted to closely match a minwax dark walnut or provincal, should I use an ebony or jacobean with the wipe off method?
