Doesn't every manufacturer have one now? I know Tec has Accu-color.

QuartzLock by StarQuartz. It's an acrylic urethane mixed with quartz crystal. It's one part, easy to work with, reusable, etc. It comes ready mixed only but this isn't a bad thing like most ready mixes are. There is no cement in this product. Once it cures it's as stain resistant as SpectraLock. If you doing high moisture areas like a shower you'll need to put an accelerator additive in it to speed cure time.

Just out of curiosity, what is it with spectra lock that you don't like? I have been using it for a few years now and find it the easiest grout to install/clean. It did take me a few jobs to get used to it - but once I did, wow!! It would be nice if companies like Laticrete would put on local installation seminars on their products - I certainly would have gone. They do have a course ($$) they offer at their plant - just have never had the time to do it!! (I think it is a 2-3 day event)

Mapei Opticolor. I am doing a bathroom floor in a few weeks and I think I'm going to try it then. Travertine over waterproofed Ditra.

Thanks for the info guys. i'm going to try the accu - color on my bathroom to see how it does. the only thing that i don't like about spectra lock is the clean up and working time. laticrete told me to put the additives in a bucket of ice to improve the working time maybe i'll try it next time.

It works very well. Imagine.....technical advice from the people who make the product Still amazes me at how many people ignore this stuff and then wonder why they have a hard time and end up bad mouthing the product and/or manufacturer. (not saying thats the case here at all just using this as an opportunity to bring it up
I have found, when it comes to adhesives, patch, grouts, thinsets, etc., the people who make the stuff know exactly how its gonna react within almost any parameters that will be seen in the field. And they all have a toll free means of communication

Not required with Spectra-Lock by any means. It is impervious to staining, once cured

I am pretty slow but I have no problems at all with Spectralock's working time. Frequently i can mix up 1 full unit along with 2 mini's and have had nary a problem. With the right tile I 'm pretty sure I could mix 2 full units at once and make it. Apparently you are not going back to the unworked areas and keeping the grout and tile slightly damp until you get there.

NOW THERE'S A GOOD IDEA!!!
One of you guys should invent a portable ice-maker that works off a truck battery. That way you could have ice for your cold drinks and your grout all at the same time.
