Have any of yoose guys been exposed to this product? It is by-gawd awesome.

There is no pigment. They color one ton batches of sand in big tumblers. The result is an epoxy grout that is as easy to apply as regular sand and portland.

Are you kidding? I hate the stuff. It is still an epoxy and still a pain in the but. While it may be better than other epoxy's, I would still prefer regular sanded grout over Spectralock.

I stumbled onto a job (I was subbed) where the customer was sold this stuff. What I planned on being a half a day grout job ended up taking twice as long.

I personally want to steer clear of it.

Just my opinion.

I think I have used that product, is that the one that is sold in the little pales with a tiny sponge with it and you buy the sanded grout in little milk carton like boxes?

Customers need to know that when they buy that product, it can perform very well. BUT installer SHOULD charge more to put it in.

There's one forum I go into that's mostly homeowners, and without fail, everyone of them that's brought up the possibility of using Spectralock has also been aware that there would be an upcharge in the labor for grouting with epoxy.

As for the product itself, personally, I don't believe there's any reason to use it in a residential setting. Commercially, yes, it's just what the doctor ordered, especially for restaurants, fast food joints, and the like. Just about any reason someone can come up with in a residence for using epoxy grout, I can come up with an alternative, using cement based grouts, that'll work just as well.
