You might want to play around with that one some more

For entryways - unless everything is perfectly straight & square it will show up quickly using option 1 & trying to put down tile that large with no clearances is a major PITA

layout

What kind of house is it? front entrance or kitchen patio entrance or what?
the second one would look good with earth tone multiple colors or shades and a rough surface natural stone type material.
The first one would look good if you are going for 50's modern diner style.
The brick is kind of classic, would look good in a travertine. the brick pattern IMO is timeless and will withstand changing styles.
