Shower
Hey guys, i have a question. I want to remove the bottom 3 ft of tiles from my shower , and the tiles in the bottom of the shower. I will remove the wall back to the studs, and install backer board on the walls. My question is when i reinstall the tile to the floor and walls, does it matter if i do the floor or the wall first and do i need to use a cove tile on the bottom first run of tile. Any help would be great.thanks in advance.

Re: Shower
In a properly constructed (waterproof) shower system it makes no difference what the tile are doing over the water proof tile system.

Re: Shower
If I were going that far, I would remove it all and start from scratch using Kerdi or Nobleseal and then you would be absolutley sure of the integrity of your shower. Right now, you will have a weak spot where you join the new with the old,and if the pan wan't constructed properly, you coould have problems there too.
I am guessing you are only removing the bottom three feet and floor because you are having problems... Why not do the whole thing right and not have to deal with the upper ones possibly going bad in the future. Also, the wall tiles generally overlap the floor tiles, but as Mike said, if the waterproofing system is done properly, it really doesn't matter

Re: ShowerIn know exactly how you feel... I have had all the fixtures and materials for my own bathroom in the garage since last spring... going to be a total gut job! Just can't work up the ambition to do it. As my wife says - "The shoemakers children never seem to have shoes..."
