Quit screaming! BTW, welcome to work. You want a floor scraper, the weighted kind. Hone the blade so that you can nearly shave with it and go easy. This is almost impossible to describe especially if you are not used to working with wood. You need to always work with the grain and ........
Maybe you need a pro.

Nope. Thats should be your game plan. I did it before but it was glued to cement. Wood is going to make it twice as hard. |

Its metal handle is weighted to produce inertia, and has rounded edges to prevent core palms. Its beefed-up carrier has 3 tightening screws. Comes with one 5" blade. Made by Crain Tools. |

Re: Removal Of Glued Down Carpet Over Oak Floor
get some good knee pads I bought a pair of "pro-knee"and they made a big differance. 40 hours on a 18 x 12 room. scraping, heat gun, and a lot of loud rock and roll. Then drum sanded starting with 20 grit, and moving all the way to 120 grit
now that I'm finished, I'm glad I didnt take any short cut's. |

You can try mineral spirits in a small area. I did a floor a few years ago and it worked ok. I used it to remove 12x12 self stick foam backed carpet tiles.
