A Question About Mapeiguard SM...


Can you install the laticrete floor warming over the crack isolation membrane??


I can't find anything on the Mapei site ...

I have no actual experience with the product and I was hoping to find something on their site but I couldn't find anything...

I suppose it really depends on the membrane but the manufacturer of the membrane I use says to put the heating elements under it. Also if you think about it, wouldn't a heating mat actually act as a buffer between the tile & membrane? Not sure if that sounds like a good idea.

Also, putting the heat under the membrane might save it if the tile is ever changed out in the future.
