Pre-finished Flooring

Does $4.00/sqft sound about right to install 3 1/4" pre-finished red oak floor? I haven't bid a floor in quite awhile and don't want to lose it, it's about 1,000 sqft. It will be about 5.00 sqft. for material (includes markup). So $10.00 sqft. total. It' in an upscale neighbor hood. Half is new construction, half is going to be taking the place of existing carpets. Now I know the usual responses:
Varies from area to area.
What I need to make may not be the same as what you need to make. Etc.
I just need to know if it sounds like a fair price
$10.00/sqft. I supply material, I remove existing carpets. Install new floor, etc.

Re: Pre-finished Flooring

If you don't install all the time typically 1 installer slightly over weight and a coffee drinking helper can place about 260 sq.ft. of 2 1/4" flooring per day. Now if your young and your back is still strong you can do more so you can afford to buy doughnuts for your helper. It all depends on the area and the preperation.
