Is Parquet Making A Comeback?

I did an estimate for a parquet floor installation yesterday. The master bedroom already has parquet from the previous HO and this lady wants to carry it into the other bedrooms that have old carpet. I haven't installed this stuff in years! Does anybody actually like it? I consider it to be cheap apartment flooring or for someone really cheap, or a rookie DIY. Oh well, I just install, not ask why

I like parquet flooring myself. I think it looks pretty good, provided you use a good product. There are far too many cheapy products out there in parquet. They do make some 3/4" stuff that is pretty good though.

I have noticed an increase in them, But that said, it's not the highest quality of customers that these installs come from. I believe it's due to the fact that the money is no longer there and they still want new flooring ... Viola .... Parquet ... cheap ... yet still considered hardwood flooring when it comes time to sell that foreclosed home ...

God I hope not....nothin says I'm lost in the '70s like parquet. Avocado green appliances, harvest gold and orange vinyl, parquet floors, and The Partridge Family on the 800lb 25" console tv with the corded remote.

Oh the horror of my childhood.

They said lino was dead. It's back.
They said hardwood was done. It's back
Parquet? Just need the designers to push it as the next "new" thing.

Re: Is Parquet Making A Comeback?

No change in buying habits in 10 years.
But just like was said earlier, it can and probably will make a comeback.
Lino is back but not even nearly as strong as it was before.
Wood is getting stronger but has always been strong in some markets.
Cork and Bamboo is picking up nicely.

Not one Parquet sale in 4 years.
Not even an interest or request.

It will take some time I think.
