Opinions on venture

I have seen alot of paint guys here offer wood floor refinishing. What do you professional flooring guys say about that. I mean it is not painting, but it is a application process like painting. I ask this because I may legally get into this as another service to offer. I had an idea of hiring floor guys and actual doing the work with them so I can learn the proper way.

::tied to the tree:: go ahead and give me seven lashes I guess

No funny business though

That's a good point that Mahlere brings up. I would suggest that you enroll in a floor finishing school so that you'll know who is capable of doing the work or is just blowing smoke. After all it's your reputation and money that's on the line. I don't work in the wood flooring industry but am sure they have the schools available just as we do in the Ceramic tile industry.

Floor refinishing DONE PROPERLY, is an artform of sorts. It by no means should be attempted by other trades especially is staining is involved. I guess it depends on the pickiness of the h/o. I've been doing it 5 years and am still learning. There is so much involved in doing a QUALITY job. It will be obvious to a pro immediately if a unexpierenced person attempted at refinishing a floor...maybe not so to a h/o.... just depends on expectations. Many times ive seen h/o... or other trades refinish a floor and it would not have raised the resale value of a house, which in my opinion is one of the main reason it is done...
