Oil Base Or Water Base Poly?

Hey guys looking for some pro. advice. Im renovating a 100 yr. house for myself. It has oak floors in the livingroom and dinningroom that I want to sand down and finish. I was wondering If you ever use water based poly for floors ? Im in Ohio and the days have been kind of cold It,s going to be hard to open the windows for venalation If I use oil base poly and I don't want to risk blowing up the house when the furnace kicks on , and if the house gets cooler because I have to keep the furnace shut down it will take forever for the poly to dry. Any sugestions on what produts to use? Iv'e built alot of cabinets and have always used lacquer finnishes so Im not up to date on water based polys. Also what is the best way to apply Im covering approx 750sq feet, can I use an airless sprayer? Thanks Jeff

Is your truck gas or diesel? Ford, Chevy or Dodge? This question always opens up a can of worms.

In short, most older guys like oils and younger guys lean towards waterbased. Both can quote the pros and cons.

When I first started doing floors a year ago I was using oil. Within the last 3 months I have switched over to water and love it. It is harder to work with. You have to lay it down almost perfect because it will not flow like oil. No sprayer. You want to either roll it or snow plow it. I have been using the snow plow method and it's great.

Is the flooring you are going to coat original or a new floor all together? If it is old you actually need to soak it with some penetrator that can put some oils back in the wood and stick with a oil based product. If it is newer floors and the stain was water based go ahead and use the water borne acrylic poly.
