Well, in the flooring business, when it is all said and done people ask "Who did your floors". And for some odd reason, the GC's name is not mentioned in that conversation. So, I want things done my way because it is my reputation on the line. So, if I say cabinets after hardwood floors, then that is what I get. If I say basemold between coats, then that is what I get. If the GC thinks he can do the hardwood w/o me then by all means go right ahead because I have other people waiting. New construction is a pain anyway if you ask me.
