Is My Floor Sturdy Enough?

I have installed many different type of tiles before but just wondering how other guys out there determine how strong a 2nd floor bathroom is to hold different types of tiles... I been using these granite tiles i have gotten a deal on and they seem alot heavier then plain old ceremic... I usually just throw em down and never had a problem but lately have heard horror stories of houses collapseing

Deflection 1/720 for natural stone. Go to JohnBridge.com and use the deflecto.

Houses collapsing? Due to tile? Say what?

I agree with Nick-- if the houses are collapsing, there are much more serious issues than deflection!! The worst that should happen is grout cracking and tile popping loose, but that's bad enough. Check Dr. Deflecto.

Yes. In fact, a couple even died from its use. Here's a thread that generally documents the whole thing from when it was first realised that people were getting sick, thru the different news reports, both local and national, right through to the class action suits going on right now against both Roanoke Industries (Tile Perfect's parent company) and Home Depot:
