Mixed Media

Quick question for the experts. A grid of hardwood with tile in between. I've seen grout, caulk and cork used between the 2 materials. Which is the best method?

I've only ever done wood to wood but a new client wants other materials in his design. These include metals, stone and tile. I might have to finally pass this one up but it's a very high paying job and a very important customer.

Mind you, these are small pieces of tile and the other stuff, but in a very large area. The following picture is the item the client wants. Broken up by a grid of wood strips running thru it. I could just do a medallion and cut it up but that would take forever. Seems I could get the shell effects easier with tile or metal:

Re: Mixed Media

Instead of grout or caulk in between the wood and tile joints how bout this:

Use a transition system...

For instance, whereas in the case of tile to tile joints, you can use a Schluter®-SCHIENE

Have luck in your project!

Ain't art grand?
