Looking For Advice On Choosing Commercial Carpet

I've got a church I'm putting carpet down in-actually "I'm" not doing anything other then finding the installer, cleaning up and choosing the carpet. Are certain colors or patterns better for hiding dirt and spills? It seems a textured surfce would be good for hiding dirt. Any help would be appreciated. If anyone is in the Dover, DE area and looking for work, its around 430yd of glue down, then PM me.
thanks.

Consider carpet tiles. They are easier and faster to install than roll goods, you can order a few extra cases and should you have an area that can't be cleaned or is damaged, replacement is very easy.

We use Heuga / Interface tiles in Fed Ex Stations. Goes down easy and seems to wear pretty well. I believe CVS pharmacy uses it as well cause it looks the same just a different color.

great idea, I'll look into those. Seems smart-whenever a bad spill/damage is present, just pull that square and put down a new one.
thanks.

Carpet tile will cost more, but it's the better option. Whatever you get, a solution dyed nylon will be the better material over the polypropylenes.

I checked out cost for squares-wow! they can make it out of anything for about an additional $10/sqyd. that makes it $20-35/sqyd for material.

thanks for the info.

I usually do Churches for cost, but only local. I am a christian, but God only gives me the means to be true to my faith.

Re: Looking For Advice On Choosing Commercial Carpet

I have the same kind of problem... 575+ syd in a fellowship hall.

Existing high grade carpet, down over 18 years looks good. No real ware patterns and fading is very even if at all. No pattern and the big multiple stained areas jump out at you. ( we tried cleaning " a couple of good companies" ...they advised not to expect to much).

carpet tiles are cool, but 10 years down the road when you replace a stained area...the new really stands out.

Our maintenance is an issue (we know it won't be the best)

I believe a large non geometric pattern will help hide future stains.
I see this type installed in Hotel/Motel and restaurant large common areas.

I need some back up info to share with the selection committee.
(insanity: to do the same thing and expect different results)

I have tried searching the www, but with no luck.

Anybody have a link or source for info on: Commercial Carpet selection "Use a large pattern in large areas ?"

Thanks for any help you can give.

PM me, Delaware is a hike but I can probably make this happen, if you are not too picky I may even be able to get you the material real cheap

Re: Looking For Advice On Choosing Commercial Carpet

Thanks Demonseed,

I did send a PM.. I'm not sure what the reaction at church will be when I advise the following info came from a guy called Demonseed!!! LOL

It appears all the info I looked at is empirical. Even the gov sites just state large non geometric patterns hide stains better, but offer no study or test to back up the statements. Many AIA, designers, and carpet manufacturers make similar statements, but everybody know the world is flat...so goes the credibility factor for "common knowledge".

I'm just glad that the issue of same sex marriage, has replaced carpet selection as the biggest issue causing division in churches today.
