Intalling Wood Engineered Flooring Over Concrete.
I am trying to decide what type of engineered floor I safety can use in my condo. The floor is concrete and shows no signs of moisture. I would like to glue down acoustical cork (requirement of the building) to the concrete then install the engineered hardwood over the cork. I have two choices. The first is Armstrong locking hardwood, product number EL5MB12NALG. The second choice is Armstrong Fenton Crest Natural 6559N. I’m asking the question because someone told me that the locking hardwood product is not suitable for glue down, but the Fenton Crest 6559N is suitable for glue down. Which is correct? Does it matter? Because in either case I’m going to glue down the cork then install the planks over the cork. Another concern I have is weather or not the planks will lay down properly when I do the glue-down versus the floating floor without using glue. I am very confused at this point. Please help.

Re: Intalling Wood Engineered Flooring Over Concrete.
Either floor will perform well in you circumstance. Since you are using cork I guess that it safe to assume that you are not on the ground floor. The moisture level of the floor should be well within limits but it is best to at least do a mat test just to make sure. The manufacture can tell you if the floor can be glued. The biggest difference that you are going to see is the Floating floor has a tendency to have a hollow sound as opposed to the glue down floor. Be sure to level your floors to manufacture specs before you glue down the cork. We do a lot of these floors in the condo's in Destine Florida. I have not had any problems with either method installed over cork.
