Installation Over 12" Vinyl Tiles

I'll be doing a vinyl floor job tomorrow in a small kitchen where luanne (sp?) was installed with 12" self-stick tiles placed over. The tiles aren't noticably pulling up, but I am going to pull them up. Is there any pitfalls associated with existing residue from the self-stick tiles or will the sealer product deal with this issue?

Is there some reason why you wouldn't rip up the luan too?

^^ Exactly what i was thinking...you will spend alot more time and effort removing that stuff from the underlayment than you would pulling it all...or, if there is not a height issue, you could just run another layer of underlayment and then the new vinyl.

there isn't any reason the luan can't be pulled up which is what I'll do. I didn't know if the self-sticking would leave a mess or not. For a quicker job, new laun seems the way to go.
thanks
