How to cover 3/8 gap with baseboard

Hi, all

Prev owner install laminate over existing floor and didn't remove old baseboard and added 1/2" quarter round on the top. It was too ugly and old and I removed them all and facing now 3/4" (corrected) gaps.
Anybody can recommend any tips how to handle this job, most baseboards are max 9/16, so they won't work. I'm thinking to attach 1/4" thick strip on lower part of baseboard and then put them at a slight angle. Or go with shoe molding...

Tried various trims 1", they are too ugly, I think baseboard on the top expected to be thin and angled/rounded to the wall, but not flat like it will be with the trims.

Will appreciate other tips from pros.

Tx all
Dai

I dont know where to start! Are you a homeowner? What is a 1/2" quarter? Quarter round? 9/16" is larger than 3/8" so I dont know why standard base won't work. The rest of the post is undecipherable so I quit!

Yeah uh, 9/16 is thicker than 3/8.

Just make your own built up base if you cannot find a deep enough one for your problem. This sounds like a DIY question though...in either case, a mill shop or trim supply shop will have a thicker base in their catalog. There is more than home cheapo and blowes out there....

standard base with shoe to bring it out if you use 1/2" shoe you will be 15/16" out so it should be plenty
