This Has GOT To Be A New Record.

On another thread http://www.contractortalk.com/f49/help-save-me-homeowner-who-insists-helping-46849/ I described the "helpful" h.o. that I had finally straightened out. A few days ago, I finished up flooring the living room with prefinished 3/4" Red Oak T&G. Returned the next morning to start on the dining room and kitchen to find that Mr. Helpful had decided to help me out by moving the remaining boxes of planks (approx. 20) into the finished living room. Only instead of moving them one at a time and stacking them manually, he decided to save time and energy by loading all 20 onto a furniture dolly and rolling it across the brand new floor!

Needless to say, there are some nice deep wheel tracks across that brand new material.

So, I think we're talking about 4-6 hours before the new floor was hopelessly ruined. Is that a record or what?

Of course, I told him that I can repair it, but it's probably gonna cost him dearly.

Is it legal to shoot homeowners over this kinda stuff?

Hey, change order, sign here, write check and start again, why shoot him? After a few of these screw ups, his spouse will pull the trigger for you.

I'm giggling like an idiot over here about this (and the replies). He didn't even know he did it til I pointed it out when I arrived the next day. He went online and accessed Bob Vila's site or some such b.s. Then he's laying down on the floor with a steam iron trying to steam it out.

While this is going on, his wife is signing the order for the repair.

You can't make this sh*t up!

Charge lots, it's gonna make a mess of your sched.

BTW, you might as well keep all these fu's by your HO on one thread, it'll be more fun.

You're probably right. I still have cabinet install, intricate tumbled marble backsplash and plumbing & electrical to do. I could conceivably have a new thread in just about every category.
