Exclamation Hardwood Flooring Prob, HELP!

Hi guys,

Listen, I have a major problem with my Red Maghogany Strip timber flooring. It is about 15 months old and with having three kids, I have put out rugs over the floor in various places to obviously protect it. Now we have decided to sell our house and I have rearranged the furniture and rugs for when the house opens for potential buyers. Anyway, when I have moved these items the areas under the furniture and rugs have become a hell of a lot lighter than the exposed areas. It seems that the timber flooring or the finish of the flooring has darkened and the covered area hasn't. I'm just freaking out and em blown away of what has happened. Please does anyone know what has gone wrong here and can anyone provide some help in guiding me to fixing it up? Boy do i need it. Thanks!!

Booga, leave the areas uncovered and over time the light areas will darken up and blend with the rest of the floor. This is very common in exotic hardwood flooring. No need to fix anything

But you'll have to delay selling the house for about 2 years

Booga, Exotic Hardwoods are beautiful. You should highlight that fact to every potential buyer that comes to see your house. You should see the light areas darkening up very quickly. Sometimes it only takes a few days. Have the areas darkened up a bit since your initial post?

I would say at night put a light on it- Not during the day because well you will make new spots! I layed tiger wood and it did the same thing. The home owner was freaking out for like 3 days and I told her it will look the same once the sun hits it. It turned out great and she said sorry for the hassle she gave me.

It's not that the areas under the rugs have became lighter, it's that the light had darkened the exposed areas. What was protected from the light is the original color. Unfortunately there is no quick fix that I know of. As someone said, nature will take care of this, but only over time. Many of the "finer" woods are very light sensitive, Brazilian, cherry, walnut, rosewood, cherry. And it doesn"t take long for this to show up, in only a couple of days there is an easily noticeable difference between "old" wood and a freshly cut or sanded piece.
