Re: Good Place To Find Business Cards
I do use a local print shop that makes my shirts & cards. I have been using the same company for 12 years, as you can see by some of the logo’s they have made me in the past.
As a general contractor I’m qualified in several home improvement tasks. I’m also a framing contractor & cannot have guys wearing my general contractor shirts on a frame that I’m a sub. GC’s don’t like their subs looking better than they do. I want to make different cards for different estimates. If I’m meeting a customer who wants a second floor addition, I want to hand them a card with a before and after pics. If I’m doing a deck a est. I want a card with decks Etc. As far as having too much info, I disagree with you, the more info the better. Ho don’t want a flooring guy estimator there deck job, even though you might be qualified. One of the best ways to connect to a HO is to match your past projects to theirs, this is why I want different business cards and logo’s Over the years I have listened to HO on how, where what they are looking for when it comes to their projects: you have two ears and one mouth: that’s means you should listen twice as much as you talk I’m interested in making sample logo’s to show my print shop to help keep the cost down. Not to mention I think it might be cool to have a different logo for each page of my web site? Last edited by festerized; 01-26-2010 at 09:19 AM. |

Re: Good Place To Find Business Cards
hey David,
i think it's a missunderstanding.... I was reffering to the logo, not the cards... the logo by itself, is the lil' graphic thingy that goes at the top left of ur site, on yourcards, letterhead, etc... graphic and slogan.... that's it... check out all the templates around the web... they're all like that...(example:http://www.templatesbox.com/free-log...ates/page2.htm) i agree with you about finding the fastest and best way to connect with the customer by making him see that his vision is already in your portofolio... i am pretty much a one man band... i own, i work, i estimate, i clean the van etc...(with a more or less permanent grumpy helper). over the last year and a half or so, i've really been into finding ways to improve my business' image, by advertising, logo, cards vehicle lettering, etc... what i kept finding (and i did do quite some reading on the subject) is that your company image needs continuity more than anything else... over time, people will start recognizing your brand... how do you achieve that? well the first thing that catches someone's eye is your logo... on a car/van/truck, fridge magnet, t-shirt, card, letterhead, etc.... we're talking about a glance, not spending 20 seconds to read all the info-rich text... one glance.... as far as having different brands( the brand includes everything) for different skills... it is an interesting idea, but honestly i dunno how good or bad that's gonna be for you in the long run... people will have a tough time identifying you as something specific... what are you? deck guy? framer? roofer? what do you do if a customer wants a deck AND a roof and a second story addition? do you give him 3 cards? I think a website is one of the best things you can invest in for your company... a pleasant, easy to use site gives you something that no paper can : a menu, categories, sub-categories, photo gallery with categories for each of your skills. small caption for each picture and i guarantee that customer will start imagining you working in his house... that's my 2cents about it.... the way you handle your brand/company image can greatly influence future success of ur business and the variety of your customers.... P.S.: 2 weeks ago, i was doing a quote at a customer's house.... she(45-50 years old) wanted to see pictures so i told her to go online and check out my site... i was standing by her side and realized she was having a tough time navigating through the menus, pages and didn't quite like the way everything was set up... that night i went home and designed a brand new site, uploaded it that same night... a lot simpler, and user friendly, i think... it's all about what the customer wants and likes... sorry for the lengthy post.....

Re: Good Place To Find Business Cards
they want to put you on the first page in google, right?
i get about 3-5 calls like that every week... plus, i'm listed in the Yellow pages as well ,so imagine the number of marketing calls that i get... if you were getting that much traffic, you'd make a nice sum by selling your domain, bro.. anyway... i've been wondering what if i had my number blacklisted? would that reduce soliciting calls?

Re: Good Place To Find Business Cards
MSV, finally someone gets it
You nailed it; my logo was designed by me and made by print shop. I chose this arch style logo for specific reason; it stands out against the 98% square ads in the local paper. I since have had this logo updated, and yet again I want to change to a more specific market |

Re: Good Place To Find Business Cards
I have pondered adding colors and I feel it important to keep it simple, if I had a decent design program I could play around with that idea
