Floor prep for Pergo flooring

Need to install Pergo flooring in a basement. Basement runs out of level and flatness over about 100 of the 300 sq feet of surface by about 3/4 inch. What would be a good floor leveling technique, specifically by brand name product? I hear about Ardex, but am not sure how difficult it would be to use or even where to find it.

I've heard of Sonoflow but have never used it. It's a cement based, self-leveling product. I read somewhere that it may react with certain adhesives to produce an objectionable odor.

Another thing, is there a limit to how deep you can pour one of these self-leveling compounds? As soupy as they must be it seems hard to imagine pouring one a inch deep.
