Epoxy Flloors ?
has anybody ever heard of a product called pour epoxy for floors. I have contractor asking me about it and I think it is some kind of heavy clear epoxy that was poured on the floor behind a bar. I not sure if that is the name or it just sounds like it. Thanks.

Re: Epoxy Flloors ?
They've been doing poured floors in my area since the late 70's. Popular in commercial kitchens, public restrooms, locker rooms, school hallways, etc.
Lots of StonHard in factories and industry here, but that's a totally horse of another color. |

Re: Epoxy Flloors ?
Yes, that's the word I was hunting. I think that's a brand name, but there were others. They could "cove" it up the walls too, and form the baseboard right in with the floor. The contractors in my area just call it a "poured floor".

Re: Epoxy Flloors ?
has anyone heard about how to repair these floors, I have seen a few fail in spots. My guess is the a piece of restaurant equipment was dragged over the same spot to much, and now theres holes in the finish, But it could be the floor wasn't preped right. I've also seen the cover base peeling away from the walls .

Re: Epoxy Flloors ?
its all about the prep with that stuff. If it sticks well its darn near bullett proof.
Ive seen it repaired, the patches were pretty visible but the fix was utilitarian. I would imagine it would be tough to match unless you had the origional installs paperwork. |

Re: Epoxy Flloors ?
Don't they use epoxy flooring systems in conductive floors as well?

Re: Epoxy Flloors ?
Pour epoxy is just a term. Some people use it to describe many epoxy floors cos they don't know the different types.(no slight intended) A "real" poured epoxy would be a self levelling one whhich is liquid, is trowelled out to thickness then spike rolled to smooth out the lines. I would doubt this would be used behind a bar as it is very slippery when wet. A photograph would help identify what type of epoxy floor has been used. I would probably be able to help you with that.
Mattcoops, epoxy can be static dissipative. fairly easy to do. Some epoxys can be coved dependant on matrix. |

Re: Epoxy Flloors ?
My company has been installing Stonhard exlusivley for over 30 years. The clear sealer you are lookin at is most likley a polished concrete or topical coating. Its hard to tell site unseen. There are numerous floor systems we install but for behind a bar, a trowel down system with a top coat is all you need. Its a 1/4" of hand troweled epoxy grout (not some slurry mix, actually troweled) with a top coat applied afterwards.
