Engineered Maple after 4 years

Just wanted to add this to the engineered floor debate.
I moved into my home 4&1/2 years ago and installed an engineered maple. 7' x 7.5 inches approx (didn't measure width). House is 66' long with no breaks or joints just ran one end to the other. 2 kids and the wife and I.
Checked it out today and some scratches from furniture, rollerblades and normal use, but it looks great. Good install, I was within 3/4" on the width of a plank when I got to the end. Floor floats on the good foam. I think I would go solid next time, but I paid $2200 for this flooring and I see no problems. I bought the floor from a wholesaler because it was discontinued.
The maple layer has a 3 plank look per piece, but one plank is narrower. Nobody notices that, the guy I bought it from didn't even notice it.
Just wanted to say, I'm happy with my engineered floor. Used a lot of glue on those edges. No cracks anywhere.

thanks for the post. Theres nothing wrong with solid or engineered. Anyone who says one or the other is lame, then it's just personal experience.
I was told NEVER to buy my Dodge Ram...nothing but problems!
3 years and that bad boy is singing!

I posted because I read so many "engineered is junk" posts. I did a good install, glued all the edges and tapped everything tight. Biggest floated floor I ever did. Year 1957, what we call an "Executive Rambler". Total custom built. Union labor at the time. Nice house and the floor looks good in it.

I though the argument was that laminate was 'junk'. My engineered floor has been installed for 9yrs and looks great except for a place or two where something heavy fell (like the corner of a bar).

One selling point for engineered would be in older homes with uneven floors. I used the glue down method and was able to keep it tight to a rolling floor and there has NEVER been a squeek. Can't say as much for the carpeted areas!

Alot of people confuse laminate with engineered wood because it is laminated wood.
