Re: The EconomyQuote:
I happen to feel the secret is going out and finding the people with money. Even in the depression there were rich people.

Re: The Economy
Sell your knowledge. Hell, I know quite a few people wanting to increase the value of their homes now that they are losing value. Offer paid advice. After you point out something they're doing wrong and suggest ways to fix it, pretty soon, you'll be doing the work. It works like this:
Mr & Mrs. Smith want you to show or tell them how to lay a section of flooring down. You show them the basics. Let them fruck it up. Now, visit them in a day or so and lay it properly. Once they see your work vs. their work, you'll get the job. Show 'em how to sand the floor really quick with one of those Lowes rental sanders. 100 bucks says that they'll screw it up big time. You never know, you just might get more money then the original job fixing all of their mistakes.

Re: The Economy
Another big mistake is so many companies go out and try to find new business with new people. What an expensive thing to do! And what is the rate of return?
How about going after people who you have already serviced! They already love and trust you (most of them hehe) and it would have a much higher rate of return don't you think? Why send 1 letter to someone who doesn't even own their home just because you want to send out mass mailings.... I call that trolling.... or casting......

Re: The Economy
We are in Western MA and very slow. We have been creative; reduced rates and emailed a few good clients explaining business was slow and asked if they wanted to take advantage of it. We were able to squeeze a few jobs out so we are good for the next few weeks. We wish everyone the best.

Re: The Economy
Speaking of branching out, staying flexible. I've done pretty well. I started a construction lead service. I hire a few people in every major city to post their 'service request' and then I sell the 'lead' to 2703 different contractors. It's like printing money I tell ya. Kinda feel sorry for the poor guys; well not that sorry.
