Recently I relocated and have a job that requires prepping a 13 x 13 kitchen, with two layers of secured linoleum, for ceramic tiling, with an ongrade concrete slab sub floor.
This is a humid part of the country so I am slightly out of my element. Here are the solutions I have been offered by the few people that have anything constructive to say on the matter, your input will be greatly appreciated:
1) Tear up the linoleum, glue a 6 mm. poly vapor barrier down, and do a 3/4"-1" mud-job on top(bypassing removal of glue from concrete slab).
2) Tear up the linoleum, degunk, use a spreadable vapor barrier, etc....
3) Go right over the top of the two layers of linolem, a budy thinks it would work well because the exposed linoleum can be cleaned the easiest, and acts as a vapor barrier, it is fastened securely and the increase in floor height is not an issue.
The slab foundation has been in place for years, slippage and settling are not of paramount concern.
