Re: To Cut Tile?
Diamond blade in a skilsaw will cut it, but like the 4" grinder trick it's VERY dusty.

Re: To Cut Tile?
Grinder with 4 or 4 1/2" drycut diamond blade, have someone hold a vacumn nozzle next to it while cutting.

Re: To Cut Tile?
Ok. the grinder sounds good. the tile size is 12x12. can I cut along a tile seam or will this not be a good spot? or it wont chip so cut any where needed?

Re: To Cut Tile?
Depending on the glaze it may or may not chip, but they are usually small chips and the vent frame should cover it. Take a piece of scrap and try a few cuts first to get the feel. I generally cut from the back side when cutting by hand like that. Seems to get a better cut that way.
I also set the tile on a scrap piece of carpet or foam to help absorb some of the vibration when you cut. Cut slow and easy as floor tile is harder and more brittle, it may crack if you try to force it. If you do that it won't matter where you cut it. Like reveivl said, it is rather dusty so you might want to cut it outside downwind of the house/cars, etc. |

Re: To Cut Tile?
Oh it's probably gonna chip a little but the diffuser flange will cover the cut tile edge. Drilling a series of holes would be risky business and could send a crack off in any direction at any time. Some porcelains don't want to be drilled very easily so the diamond sawblade in a grinder or circular saw is really the most cost effective in the long run.
