Re: Cork Flooring

Admittedly this is a non-professional answer but here's what I've seen: Frank Lloyd Wright built "Fallingwater" in the Laurel Highlands of PA in 1936 and its cork floors are still exceptionally beautiful. As I recall, they're sealed with beeswax.

Re: Cork Flooring

I've never done the T&G stuff but cork is one heck of a floor. A few years ago I replaced an original that was done in '64. We used http://www.naturalcork.com/index.htm and topcoated with 2 coats of waterbased poly. It was on a yacht and we didn't want water to get underneath it via the seams.

Re: Cork Flooring

Have only run across a couple, but they always seem to be in very good shape for their age; I guess it is tougher than I would ever give it credit for. Supppossed to be easy on the feet when standing for long hours.

Re: Cork Flooring

Very warm and comfy. Easy to install, and dents come out in time.
moisture is not good for long periods of time on the seam, but other than that....

it's been in the library of congress for over 100 years.
