Collated Screw Guns For Backer
Does anyone have any experience with collated screw guns for screwing down backer board? The ones with extentions on them seem like they would work nice so you don't have to bend over. I was looking at one like this to try out- www dot strongtie.com/products/quikdrive/systems/procgb.html . Currently i just use a screw gun to fasten hardi or cement board but that is hard on the body and rough on the guns. What is everyone else using to install backer board? Thanks

Re: Collated Screw Guns For Backer
If you're looking for a collated screwgun designed for backer, check out the following link:
http://www.contractorsdirect.com/Qui...14&category=14 I myself have considered buying this product many times as a time saver but it's not cheap, nor are the screws. Also a consideration I would imagine is not being able to easily see if you're driving the screws completely flush because you're not close to the floor. If you do buy it, please PM me back and let me know how it works! |

Re: Collated Screw Guns For Backer
It has a depth adjustment so i would assume it would work like a drywall gun and set each screw pretty close to the right depth. I wonder what is special about this model that makes it special for backer board? I'm going to assume from the lake of response that not to many people on here use these guns. I've burnt up 2 cordless screw guns in the last couple of years laying cement board, 1 was a dewalt 18 volt xrp and the other was a 18 volt panasonic which the batteries got to hot and won't hold a charge. Do others use a cordless or corded drill to drive the hundreds of screws for installing cement board or hardi?
