Ceramic "hardwood" ?

A grocery store near me has installed this hardwood looking floor in the produce area. It looks good. I tapped it and it sounded like loose ceramic tile. No one that I asked that works there knows what it is or who did it. A lady thought the contractor was outta Los Angeles the store is in Fresno CA. I tried a few times to talk to the manager, to get to the building owner/manager who will know, but he was always out when i tried. I'll keep trying.
You guys ever heard of it? I doubt it, from reading about the wood floor in the kitchen topic. Of course thats what I would use this for, a small open Kitchen / Living room area, and a bathroom. Anyways, I'll try to get a pic this week, and get more info from the manager.

I saw some laid down as a display in a tile store. It looked great. It did sound hollow as I remember. It was fairly expensive if I remember correctly. $8 sq. ft..ish????? Looked really nice, though. If you are looking for it, contact Bedrosian's tile in Anaheim, Ca.

I did one job that came out OK and have seen some much better looking tiles. The short sizes, regularity and grout lines give me reservations.

All of the Tropical Smoothie stores here have it. Decent looking floor....basically a brick sized tile with wood grain texture installed in a running bond pattern with epoxy grout.
They seem to be holding up really well, oldest one around here is 4-5 years old and looks new.

I've seen something like that.....looked like tile planks to me....about 18 inches long and 4 or so inches wide, they staggered the end joints. Looked really nice. I was told they were porcelain, had a wood grain look to it.

The only wood grained tiles I've seen look awful....They are 8" wide and 16 or 18" long. The grain looks printed on(which I'm sure it is). I saw them at HD during their tile blowout sale.

I did a home this spring, with handscraped hardwood, and she had someone install handscraped wood look tile planks in the kitchen. Wouldn't have been my choice, with wood floors in the rest of the home.

Re: Ceramic "hardwood" ?

Well, I found a ceramic hardwood tile, not sure if id call it a tile though. $5 a foot. Also found a vinel type sim wood 4"x36" glue down strips. They said they had a new interlocking vinel type... non glue, floating floor... Im waiting on a call back after they get the samples...

It all sounds pretty cool, and looks pretty good. Id post the brand but the flyer is in the truck out side and im tired.
Maybe next time.
