Buckled Wood Floor
Hi Guys,
I have done plenty of wood floors and have even done some repairs of wood floors, but I am not sure how I want to tackle this one: Rental House: Completely Carpeted w/wood floors under. Pulled up carpet to expose and refinish the wood floors Everything is great but one section which is buckled Evidently, there had been a major water leak in the roof at some point years ago which caused swelling and buckling of one section of the floor in the middle of the living room. What is the best way to repair this other than to pull up the entire floor? My initial though is to remove one row and see if I can get the rest to settle back down. If I do that, do I do it in the middle of the buckle or at the edge? How would you do it? I have this sinking feeling that I'll be pulling up the entire area.

Re: Buckled Wood Floor
1) first floor moisture content must be dry to normal level..10% max depending upion areas. check rest of floor for average reaidng.
2) wont matter what board or course you pukklas it will take the stress of the buckle and should allow rest to drop, but middle would be best. 3) dont know how much buckeld, but more than likely you need to pull up all loose boards as they are no longwer secure, unless you plan on topnailing thru all of them.. Then you can sand as normal.. oh, and obviously, water source needs to have been corrected.... |
