Best Heavy Duty Disk Sander a.k.a.-"Screener"

One of my supposed "screeners" has been giving me problems for a while now and it finally became useless. I guess thats what I get when I expect a waxer/polisher/buffer to do the job of a screener/disk sander. It couldn't handle the torque, friction, or dust.

Anyway, I need rec.'s on a new heavy duty 16"-18" circular drive sander/screener to be used as a finaling machine to get out fine drum lines.

Gimme' the best ones and the crap to stay away from please.

I use a Bona buffer. Has worked great, never any problems. Use it with screens, hard plates, and purple pads for sanding. Also use it for staining, and getting fill up after trowel filling a finished floor.

What model? Was it made to specifically buff only and it's holding up; or is it classified as a disk sander?

I've been using the big Alto 1700 since 1997. It has plenty of power and weight. I've even used a hard plate a couple of times for prepping plywoood for glue down. Worked great. It takes a beating that's for sure.
