asbestos in carpet mastic

hello can anyone tell me if asbestos was ever used in carpet mastic i have the yellowish crusty crystal looking stuff under my carpet and i want to refinish the floors its got trowel marks in it and its very dry and brittle but from i can gather the asbestos was used in a black asphaltic based glue is that always the case or has it been used in a traditional looking glue

No, carpet adhesives never had asbestos.

Black cutback was the only one.

I did asbestos removal for 10 yrs.. some adhesives DO have asbestos in them. the only way to tell is to have it tested.. MOST the adhesives i removed were black..
