Aluminum Oxide Finish
We recently installed 3/4 in. distressed oak hardwood flooring for a customer. The product is stained in a dark brown. Overall the flooring looks fabulous. There is however one distrubing issue. The flooring does seem to easily show surface scratches which show as a fine milky white line. These scratches appear where there is a build up of dust and people and animals turn direction. Applying a similar stain makes the scratches "disappear".
I do not know the manufacturer, but the box states that there are 7 layers of polyurethane and aluminum oxide. We have not experienced this problem with products that have aluminum oxide finishes, before. Does anyone have any ideas as to the potential cause for this problem and are there any remedial action that can be taken? |

Re: Aluminum Oxide Finish
tell the people and dogs not to turn direction..
next option, tell them to wear diapers on their feet. in reality, it sounds like the finish is over built.. more is not better when it comes to floors. what I ve seen happen alot is actual compression marks in pre finished products. also, please note this..the customer never does anything worng that scratches the floor.. they just float acorss it, wake up and look at it, and BAM! a mystical scratch |
