Almost done with the basment

Thinking of putting carpet in the basement using a thick pad but how do you install it on the concrete with tackless??

Not to put a kink in your plans, but before you put carpet in there, you might want to do a moisture test on the slab, first.

the pad should be glued down with a pad glue.

You use a can of spray adhesive to keep pad down. The tack strips go around the perimeter and you use cement nails. Meaning they use a certain nail for plywood and a cement nail for cement. That is the way they did mine. They used a liberal amount of that spray adhesive on the floor for the pad.

You can buy "tackless" with masonry nails already started in the strips the same as regular tackless with regular nails that would be intended for wood subfloors.

Back when I was still laying rug...stopped a year ago, I used it all the time. It was a modified urethane adhesive that was activated with a spritz of water. Did what it said too, you could power stretch off it in two hours.
