Advice Needed - Border Installation
I intend to purchase a 5/16" border for installing at one customer. Now, the customer has a 3/4" T&G oak and the border is square-edge. I'd like to know what you people suggest for this. Share your experience.
Thanks a lot. |

Give us a little more of an idea of what you need to know. Are you asking how to overcome the height difference? What tools to use? Layout? Joining the existing floor with the border?

Re: Advice Needed - Border Installation
Hi,
in fact I'd like your opinion on how: 1.to overcome the difference in height 2.layout (say square in the middle with a herringbone pattern) Borders are 5/16" square edge unfinished. Take in account this info. Tim |

Re: Advice Needed - Border Installation
I'm assumming that you are referring to matching the height.I would bed a piece of 1/4" cement backer board into a bed of thinset spread with a pretty deep notch trowel.Take a piece of straight 1 x4 and notch the ends to the proper depth so that when you lay it across the installed 3/4" floor , it will act as a screed to push the cement backer down to the determined height. Let this dry overnight, the set your tile as usual. Hope I understood the question correctly.
