1st Laminate Job Need Help
I am installing Kronotex Laminate from lowes in a hallway.
I know that all the jams have to be undercut but, I have a ton of angles and there are 4 door wyas in this hall how do I cut this stuff without chipping, and how do I make alll the needed cuts without roughing the edges? I took all the cove base out and will install new base molding when finished ... i could not bring myself to use the 1/4 round... Thanks for any advise and or help that is offered |

Table saw with a 36 or higher tooth count circular saw blade blade in it. You will also need a jigsaw with a good fine blade as well.

Re: 1st Laminate Job Need Help
When wrapping doorways without a transition, it is imperative to think a few rows ahead to insure an end joint can and will fall in the easiest place possible to make your way thru the door....at or near the middle in most cases. You can also drop a tape and figure out what the starting row must be ripped down to so as to not leave yourself straddling and wrapping a door casing casing. If you set it up so that your wrapping point has a long join in the middle and an end joint at or near the middle the other way it becomes easy as pie...with casings undercut and base removed I can typically make those cuts with only a table saw and very often they are measured and marked without the aid of a tape measure.

Re: 1st Laminate Job Need Help
I'm having a hard time following this. Are you putting it down on a 45* angle? If not, what direction are you running it? Is it going to continue into the rooms?
As for chipping, I always cut it from the back side plus it's easier to mark. Buy new carbide blades and change them when they start to get dull. When using a table saw, cut finished side up. You always want the teeth going INTO the finished side.
