Hey everyone.

I've found this forum while searching for a place where professional contractors can exchange their experiences.

Finally I've found this place!!

Residing in eastern PA, I am an owner of construction company, progressively growing over last 18 years. Specializing in all types of roofing and siding installation. In addition we installed - windows, doors, gutters, AZEK/KOMA trim and porches. In good years our annual sales were reaching $800 000.00+ per year. (unfortunately, not anymore)

In last few years I was expanding business adding remodeling and restoration services.

I am very happy to be here. I hope to find few new friends and benefit from fellow contractor's experience.

Hi everyone, I'm really glad that this site is around.

I've been a window and siding salesman for the past 5 years, and have actually sold between $500,000 and $1,000,000 each year by myself. A few years ago me and another salesman decided we wanted to go into business on our own but we wanted to make sure that we were going to know all aspects besides just selling.

We recently formed our own company, got all the supplier accounts we need and are ready to start selling jobs (in fact we have some lined up now). The problem is that we are still looking for installers (to sub) that we can trust.

I totally underestimated how difficult it would be to find installers that would be experienced, trustworthy, and professional.

Once we have a good installation crew, I can't wait to get out there and start selling full time for my own company. Getting leads wont be a problem at all, it's just the installation issues that are the only part that is difficult to understand completely.

I'm hoping that Contractor Talk will be able to be a solid resource for when I need answers about installation methods or if I run into installation problems or need to understand something better.

Well this is my intro. My name is John, 26 years old, been renovating and remodeling houses for about 10 years now. Built my first 2 story home last year, several additions, big on kitchen and bath remodels. Its not a whole lot that I cant do other than H VAC/Plumbing/Electrical. I just established my company ("Affordable Creations Construction") in the Richmond area. And this is my first business ever owned and operated. Prior to this business I ran a small outfit, pretty much did everything other than share the profit. So I decided to spread my wings and fly. Which I can say I am very proud of myself and its been a long time accomplishment, thats a reality now. I passed the Class A contractors test on the first go round, but only applied for the Class B contractors license. Got my CGL/workerscomp business license, bank account. I just need something to do ;). Went to go look at my first job today as Affordable Creations. Drove 44 miles to get there and the homeowner never showed up. "I will be there in 10-15 minutes" he said. As I waited there for over an hour. Kinda disappointed but if the guy couldnt meet me on time, he prob wouldnt pay on time either. So maybe it was for the best.

I guess this will suffice for an intro, and I hope to network with a few guys in here from VA.

I've done many high end custom homes (two of which have been in magazines - "Dwell" and "Luxe"). I've also done many residential remodel projects that range from soup to nuts. In addition I have done my share of commercial projects that include: 2 Dental offices, 35,000 sqft athletic club, Conversion of a 1929 16,000 sqft mini storage to mixed use project and several tenant improvements. I am currently working on a 28 unit condominium re-clad project. I am always looking for new resources to learn the latest in the construction industry. There seems to be a wealth of information on this site. I look forward to learning from and contributing to this collaborative group of construction professionals.
